The way of The Cross
The way of The Cross is an a narrow path of much suffering and shame. The Cross is not only the place where Jesus Christ suffered bled and died. It is also an image of how we as Christians are to be. Paul says in The Epistle to The Galatians that he is crucified with Christ In The Epistle of Romans he says we are to reckon ourselves dead to sin. This can only be done by The Cross which is dying to self and trusting in Christ alone not our good works and putting off the dead works of the flesh. The way of The Cross can also have an application to the teachings of Christ. For instance nonviolence is looked upon as foolish by many to let someone strike you and not retaliate is looked upon as weak or cowardice by many. It is not weak it takes more power to not lash out in violence then it does to lash out. show me a man who resorts to violence as an solution to his problems and I will show you a man who has lost his sense. If any one had any justification for retaliation it would have been Christ. While Roman solders mocked Him and the religious leaders scorned, ridiculed, and struck Him He did not fight back. He was our meek Passover Lamb wounded for our iniquities and bruised for our transgressions. vengeance is The Lord's He will recompense on The Day of Judgement. Till then we as the quite people of our Lord Jesus Christ are to be unspoiled by the world. In the world but not of it emptied of all vanity, self conceit, pride, and worldliness.
