Ezekiel 6:4


The Prophet Ezekiel after seeing The Glory of The Sovereign Lord God and performing several signs to show God's displeasure in Israel's spiritual harlotry. Is then told in Chapter Six of the book that bares his name to preach against The Mountains.
This can be looked upon as the insanity of an mentally confused old man by the unbeliever. But in fact it is God's elected messenger calling down God's righteous judgement on The High Places. For those who don't know the high Places where ware the ancient Israelites went to engage in bacchanalian heathen rites of ritual child sacrifice sex rituals and to burn incense to false deities such as Baal or Asherah. It was because of this rejection of Yahweh that Israel was condemned to be destroyed by The Babylonians. the false gods the Israelites worshiped where cold dead idols that would not protect them from the ravages of The Babylonian hoards. In fact the after effects of this descent into idolatry for Israel would ultimately include cannibalism and there destruction as a people and finally death before the false gods they had carved. With only a small remnant that would turn to The Lord and repent and even that is still future. Now The Jew has an much harder idolatrous God to serve and that is the idol of self righteousness. "I have kept the Law from my youth" said the rich young ruler to Christ. "Thank God I am not like other men" said The Pharisee in The parable of The Publican and The Pharisee. Even now men are reconstructing Idols in there hearts idols of shallow legalism placing there salvation on what they do not do instead of what Christ has accomplished. Idols of dispassionate intellectualism in which they carve an ice cold God of facts, figures, statistics, and dogma with no heart. Or The idolater who worships the god of despair a sallow faced deity off obsidian blackness who's worshipers sacrifice themselves on the alter of there own selfishness and conceited pride because "there" suffering is so much worse then any other person's could ever be ever so they can not live with the pain so there only choice is to sacrifice themselves to there god of self pity and narcissism. But I tell you friend there is freedom from the grip of that idolatry of that hatred of God and that freedom can only come from one place The True God. Who came down and died for The sins of people. That is The Son of Man THE Son of God who bled and died for sinful men. Repent while there is still time God will have mercy on whom He will have mercy on. Flee to the Cross there is no other way to The Father (John 14:6)
