Thoughts On 1 Peter 1:14-16
The believer is to be as a child obedient and humbly submitted to God the submission and child like faith that the believer exerts. Is a byproduct of God's calling and Election. God is holy and He has made us His children and imputed Christ's righteousness to us thus the believer is made holy by God. It is the believer's duty to be holy and set apart from the world not to curry God's favour or to justify himself before God like He was some baleful heathen deity. But out a love and desire to please God alone. Merit is not gained by good works good works are only the fruit of salvation not the means of it. Also holiness is a sign of the fruit of the Spirit. To gain this holiness it has to be a completely alien righteousness because our own is marred by original sin so our old stained righteousness which is as filthy rags is replaced with the gleaming white garment of Christ's righteousness. In short man does not need a relationship with God he needs a mediator because unsaved man all ready has a relationship with God in which unsaved man will feel the full fury of God's wrath but the saved man having the alien righteousness of Christ and Christ as His mediator has the wrath of God which he justly deserves is propitiated by Christ's redemptive sacrifice on The Cross. Flee the wrath to come repent of sin and Cling to Christ before it is too late oh wretched man or you will go to the place where the worm die not and the smoke of your torment rises up forever repent and put your faith in Christ as your saviour or Christ will be your judge at The Great White Throne.
